    Norethisterone Contraception

Norethisterone contraception is from a group of medicines called ‘Progestogens’. Progestogens are similar to the natural hormone the female body produces called progesterone. The progesterone contained within Norethisterone tablets is called Norethisterone. Otherwise known as a progestogen-only pill, Norethisterone contraception doesn’t contain oestrogen. This can help women who may have contraindications when taking a combined pill containing oestrogen, past or current illnesses such as VTE, arterial diseases, past or current breast cancer. When used correctly, Norethisterone tablets are one of the most reliable reversible ways of contraception, over 99% effective. This would mean that out off a hundred women, less than one will get pregnant in a single year. When taken “typically” by a lot of women in real life, it only proves to be about 92% effective. Norethisterone contraception is one of numerous options available to women when looking for a contraceptive method. Other such methods that don’t include typical Norethisterone contraception: For more information about POPs (Progestogen-only pills) click here to be redirected to the NHS website.
